It truly is amazing what you can do when your mind and body work together. Today, I had an excellent workout. I was actually able to complete the 5-minute running intervals. I now realize that it's all in the music that I am listening to. At the end of the second 5-minute interval, I felt my mental game deteriorating. During the rest period, I convinced myself that I did not want to walk. I needed to run.
And that last boost came down to my power song. You know, a song that just makes you go longer, faster, harder... Mine is "Encore" by Jay-Z. And it gave me all the energy I needed to finish out my run.
Encore JayZ uploaded by nhennigan90 It only gets harder from here on out but maybe if I had more power songs, I'd be able to boost myself in my most difficult times.
So tell me, ladies and gentlemen, what's YOUR power song?

My power song is Just Fine by Mary J Blidge. I am also ramping up to the 5k run. I am in week 3. After taking off for a week, getting back in the groove was a challenge. Running the 3 minute intervals was no joke. I agree it was totally in the mind. As
Your brother is comfortable saying mine is "get me bodied" by Beyonce...LOL
My power song is Hate On Me by Jill Scott. When I reach that point of just giving up, this song remind me to "hate on that thought" and continue on!
My power song is Streets of New York, by Alicia Keys (with appearances by Nas and Rakim). I might punch a muh...... after listening to it a few times.
Actually I have a couple:
Gangsta, Gangsta - Lil Scrappy
Ludacris - Get Back
Lil Jon - Real N**** Roll Call
Yeah, I like that hardcore stuff.
That's funny because mine is Just Fine by Mary J right now as well. It just encompasses how I feel and makes me wanna "MOVE"!! LOL Keep up the good work!
I don't have one. I like to run in silence. I like hearing my feet hit the pavement and hearing how I'm breathing. I've tried jogging with music and I always end up just carrying the headphones. I'm inspired anyway Thall! I haven't managed more than 2 workouts a week, but I workout hard for my 2 days. I jogged 3 miles on Sunday felt good to get moving again :)
